The Blue Tang is also known as the Palette Surgeonfish, the Pacific Blue Tang, and Hepatus or Regal Tang. It displays a loud, vibrant blue coloured body with black bold markings across the body. The black which begins at the eyes makes its way all down the dorsal line and down to the tail. It then circles back around and above the pectoral fin.

As much as the Blue Tang enjoys to hide under live rock, this fish is also a very active swimmer. Therefore, a tank of 180 gallons or more is suitable for this fish in order to give it enough room to swim. Blue Tang is suitable for a reef aquarium. Although this fish is peaceful to majority of tank mates, the Blue Tang will become aggressive to other fish of its own species if they are not introduced to the aquarium at the same time.

The Blue Tang will consume foods which are meaty, although it is essential to ensure that the Blue tang is given enough marine based seaweed and algae. This is important to improve and maintain their overall health, build the immune system, and to reduce aggression.
